The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) launched the Silver Maple Leaf series in 1988. As an homage to the series' 35th anniversary in 2023, the RCM issued a five-ounce silver reverse proof coin that featured an ultra high relief version of the iconic maple leaf design, paired with a magnificent single year of issue field pattern dedicated to the milestone. This 2023 Maple Leaf coin contains 5 Troy oz. The coin's reverse is minted with a dramatic ultra high relief strike. The coin's standard relief obverse includes a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The classic imagery of the coin is showcased by a stunning reverse proof finish. The coin features a celebratory field pattern honoring the 35th Anniversary of the Silver Maple Leaf series. The 65.25 mm in diameter, fifty-dollar denomination coin is issued as a legal tender of Canada. The coin will arrive in its original Mint package.

Merely 1,750 coins were minted. Obverse: Acclaimed Canadian artist Susanna Blunt's 2003 portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is located on the obverse, surrounded by a concentric pattern of laser-engraved maple leaves. Each ring of the design contains thirty-five individual leaves interspersed with the number 35.

" Beside the effigy, the dates marking the span of the Queen's historic reign, "1952" and "2022 appear, along with four tiny circles, which represent the four distinct renditions of the Queen that graced Canadian coinage. Inscribed "ELIZABETH II, " "50 DOLLARS" and 2023. Reverse: A dramatically sculptural sugar maple leaf is centered on the reverse, contrasted against the same maple leaf "35" radial pattern. Inscribed "CANADA, " "FINE SILVER 5 OZ ARGENT PUR, " and 9999.
