2022 saw the Royal Canadian Mint create a fractional set of Silver Reverse proof Maple Leaf coins. These coins have a very limited mintage and depict Queen Elizabeth II with a different portrait than usually seen on recent modern coinage, as it is more reminiscent of some portraits from earlier in the century. The 1 Ounce coin has been specially refined with diamond particles. Sadly, Queen Elizabeth II passed away in September 2022, making these coins one of the last coins depicting the Queen to be made during her lifetime.
